Notification of School Closure or Other Emergencies

Below is the order in which Coos Bay Schools will notify parents, staff and the community in case of school closure or other emergency.

Auto Caller – Parents/guardians of students and staff receive a phone call or email with the message. Please make sure your contact information is up to date. Your school’s office will be happy to assist you. A recording of the message will also be available at 541-267-6149.

Flash Alert – Emails and/or texts of the message are sent to subscribers. Go to http://www.flashalert.net/news.html?id=1374 for more information on how to subscribe.

Media Outlets – The media (TV, radio, newspaper) is notified via Flash Alert. They also receive a separate email from the district office.

Webpage – The announcement is posted on the district’s webpage at www.cbd9.net

Welcome to Blossom Gulch Elementary!

Blossom Gulch ElementaryBlossom Gulch is a community school for approximately 585 kindergarten through 3rd grade students this year. Our motto is “Children First” and we are proud of our students’ academic achievement as well as the quality education we provide in a caring environment. We will continue to make the academic and social success of all students our primary focus.

We have a school wide Title I program that provides reading, writing and math instruction as well as counseling services and parent outreach activities. We have an active Booster Club/PTA whose fundraising provides enrichment activities, field trips and technology for all of our students. Look in our calendar of events for these activities!

Free Summer Lunch Program 2016

Free lunches are offered beginning June 27th through August 19th for children ages 2 to 18.

School sites include Blossom Gulch, Madison and Millicoma from 11:15 to 12:00 noon. Mobile Delivery sites include Mingus Park, Woodland Apartments, Bayway Mobile Park and Pacific Empire Motel.

Kindergarten Registration for 2016-2017

Parents and their upcoming kindergarten students are invited to register their child for the 2016-2017 school year.

 This registration is for students who will be age 5 on or before September 1, 2016. Parents are required to bring legal proof of birth date and an updated immunization record. Proof of birth date includes birth certificate, passport, hospital record, adoption papers, etc.

 If a parent is unsure of the school their child will be attending, they are encouraged to review the Attendance Areas map at the following link: http://cbd9.net/attendance-zones  

Parents may visit the schools any time to pick up/drop off registration paperwork.
